China entry and practical travel: official starting points

Start with your own passport and itinerary

Visa rules depend on nationality, passport type, purpose, dates and sometimes the onward route. Visa-free entry and visa-free transit are different arrangements. Do not assume eligibility from another traveller’s experience.

Check the appropriate authority

Use the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and your Chinese embassy or consulate for visa guidance. Use the National Immigration Administration for entry and transit policy. Confirm airline boarding requirements as well as destination entry requirements.

Keep practical arrangements in view

The State Council visitor guide provides official starting points for practical travel questions. Discuss arrival, accommodation registration, local payments, connectivity and rail arrangements with your planner and the relevant service provider.

Recheck before committing and before departure

Requirements can change. Consult the linked official source for the current rule and keep the conditions that apply to your own journey. A travel proposal does not guarantee immigration permission.
