Some places ask you to linger.

Begin with three nights in Dali.

Use Dali as a base rather than changing hotels around the lake. Spend one morning in Xizhou, where a market walk and a fresh baba breakfast sit naturally beside a visit to Bai courtyards. Keep another morning for Cangshan or the Erhai shoreline. A free afternoon gives you time to revisit the places you liked.

Give Shaxi two nights.

Arriving for a single night leaves little time beyond check-in and a walk around Sideng Square. With a second night, you can follow the river into nearby villages and return before dinner. Discuss whether the Shibaoshan grottoes belong in your day; the steps and walking can change the pace considerably.

Leave choices open in Lijiang.

Three nights in Lijiang allow a quieter Baisha morning, time with Naxi craft traditions and one day shaped around your interests. Mountain scenery is one option, but it need not be the only one. Tell your planner if you would prefer cooking, photography or a longer village walk.
