01

Overview

An eleven-day private heritage trail through northern China's dynastic heartland. Beijing supplies the imperial foundations — the Forbidden City, the Summer Palace and the Great Wall — before a flight reaches Datong for the Yungang Grottoes and the cliff-bound Hanging Temple. A bullet train continues to Pingyao, a walled Ming town and the Wang Family Courtyard, then another carries you to Xi'an for the Terracotta Army and the City Wall. The pace is measured, with one major heritage site per day and room to absorb each. Includes the flight and high-speed trains between the cities, a private vehicle and an English-speaking guide.
